Post Sink's Army (New to 40k)
I just got into the game and decided to start out right with Death Guard inspired troops. I'm using them to play against my friends only whose armies consist of: Orks, Orks on bikes, Smelldar, Tau, Nurgling Food, Witch Hunters, Frost Wolves and Space Marines.

I haven't really painted anything since I was like 9 years old (long time ago). But I don't think it's turning out too badly, for my first attempt. I plan on playing for a long time from this day on, so I'm sure I'll pick up tips and get better as the years go.

I have one set of 7 plague marines from GWS and 2 boxes of CSM that I'm using green stuff on to convert to plague marines. I wanted some icons and like all of the models looking a little different. I've also used greenstuff on my rhino, dreadnought and terminators to make them look a little more nurgly. Once again, I haven't done anything with clay or paint in as long as I can remember, haha. I'm also adding to my army list still, and I'll share what I get and what I do with them as I go.

I'll update as I go on my progress, I still have the majority of the models to paint. Only the plague marines from GSW and the Rhino are finished thus far.

These are mostly WIP but I welcome CC! I still have some black to touch up on the models with greenstuff. Each model I make from start to finish looks a little better than the last though, and I like the way they're turning out.

Thanks for lookin'.

Well first of all welcome to both 40K and Papa Nurgle. Now down to buisness. First of all for you first atempt in what has been apparently quite a while this is a good atempt at painting and a half-decent go at converting. I have only a few comments/criticisms first of all I don't really like the look of the tentacle things hanging down from the dread, what are they supposed to be? Second of all, holy crap that is a lot of spikes on the Rhino! Finaly I feel that a couple of your models lack much contrast but if your happy with the scheme then thats okay too. Good work!

Very good job for a first timer! It's a promising start. You may want to remove the hairs on the nozzle of your painted Plaguemarine's bolter before taking macro photographs though (HOW on earth did you get a hair THERE! XD ).

They're supposed to be the dreadnought's guts handing out. I haven't finished messing with that model yet and I'm going to tidy them up a bit still. Also, I like spikes...I did go a bit overboard with them on the Rhino though, but I think it makes it look pretty cool, haha. C3P0's head is piked on one of them too. I'm far from artsy though, so could you go into more detail what you mean by contrast? I also feel like some of the bigger areas on some models is very bland looking, but I don't really know what to do about it. I'm still playing around with different ideas and I'm going to try some new color layers when I paint my next set of models.

I didn't notice the hair until after I posted the pics, it may be a pube as I like to paint naked while watching TV.

Jk, either from a brush or a cat.

That last paint job's a lot tighter already. You're a fast learner.

On the next model I expect to see NO mould lines and bits of leftover sprue on prominent areas such as the gun nozzle and horns. Or else! >:)

Nice miniatures! I really like your greenstuffing on the CSMs!

I would propose tor drill the barrels of your bolters, imho this has great impact on the overall appearence of the models.

thats a big jump in quality, which makes the mould lines an even greater shame :)

Thanks for all the positive feedback! I'm going to head out later today with my girl, while we're out and about I'm going to look for some files. I think GamesWorkshop sells a 3 set for like 12 bucks. I have a mold line complex now...

If you're looking for files, go to a hardware store (IE home depot) and get a needle file set. More for your money.

At last a put an army to a name. I think I posted a link to here in your every time you visit that forum, Mab here fondles a kitten inappropriately thread shortly before you joined, yes?

Totally didn't understand that...but if you're talking about the bolter and chainsword forums, then yea. I came here from a link to some tutorials. Decided I like it here better!
